About
I am a 40-something college professor who teaches in the field of Digital Entertainment and mobile device development (iPhone, iPad, Andorid, Blackberry, etc). What does that mean? Well, it means that I get to play with the cool toys! I have over 25 years of experience as a programmer/techie, and over 15 years experience as a secondary school teacher and university professor.
What can you expect to find here? Wherever my interests take me, that is what you will find on my website. For now, that encompasses my research, publications, my blogs on developing for Android, iPad/iPhone, and Microsoft Mobile programming, Word Press, and Flash CS5 game development (to name a few). In the future, heirloom gardening, remodeling, travel, reflections on digital entertainment, book reviews… The future is wide open!
I welcome your comments and feedback. If you are part of the grammar/spelling police, keep it to yourself. I have dyslexia. While I do my best to check my spelling and grammar, I am more focused on content than following all of the rules perfectly. If my spelling and grammar is just too much for you to tolerate, may I recommend that you create your own website?
For the record, I do sometimes receive free books and merchandise that I review. I do my best to make sure that the fact that I received it for free does not influence my review. If I’m going to recommend something, it will be because I liked the product, not because I received a free copy. I’ve received enough junk so as to not be persuaded by getting something for free. I am a member of several affiliate programs, so I do receive a commission from some of the links on my site. Again, I only plug things that I like. I have enough personal integrity to not sell my name for a few dollars of profit. If I was in it for the money, do you think I would be in education?

Regarding: Corona book
I have the early release version of the book but have not seen any new update downloads for some time. I did use update download through Twitter but that’s been a few months. How do I download currents updates for the book?
The updates can be downloaded through the Books tab above. Click on Book Update, and you will receive the most recent update. The current download includes everything except the final chapter.
Regarding: Mobile App. Development: Getting Started Part 1
I purchased this on Amazon. There are two more parts. Is this the same as purchasing the book? Since I have part 1, if I purchase 2&3, is that the equivalent of buying the book?
Yes, if you get parts 1, 2, & 3; it is equivalent to purchasing the book that is available on my site. I have made the book available through Amazon, Kobo, and Apple iBookstore because I understand that some would prefer to purchase through one of those sources rather than a website.
Dr Burton,
In your book, Beginning Mobile App Development with Coroan, you state use use Eclipse as your editor of chioce on the PC for Corona. I looked for a Lua/Corona at http://eclipse.org and several poped up. Any advice on which one to use?
Thanks,

Hi Jesse,
I tried several and used Eclipse for my PC Corona editing for quite a while. I don’t have a specific one to recommend. I’ve actually now moved to using Corona Project Manager for all of my projects in Corona. Primarily because I can have a copy on my PC & Mac and it works identically between the two systems.. not trying to remember how to do something in different editors!
